Audition Instructions
Band Members enrolling for Intermediate or Advanced Band will audition on the following:
Intermediate: Essential Elements 2000, Book 1, p. 185. No repeats.
Advanced: Chromatic Scale at least one octave.
If your child was in band elsewhere and didn’t use the Essential Elements 2000 method, he or she may play something from the book he or she already has. Page 29 #141 is the song, “Greensleaves.” It may be in your child’s current band method book. If not, your child may play something comparable.
Note: In addition to the Chromatic Scale, students must play two selections from the above list. One must contain at least sixteen measures of six eight time with a variety of rhythms.
Honor Band tryout music from any of the following: Texas Music Educator’s Association (TMEA), Texas Private Music Educator’s Association (TPSMEA), Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB). The year from which it was taken does not matter.
A Class 3 or above solo from the UIL list (go to UIL-PML online.)
Choice of: Essential Elements 2000, Book 2, p.29#141 and p.40. No repeats.
Since this is the first year we are offering choir, auditions will be for voice part only. I will have all the materials.
