Contests
VERY IMPORTANT!!!! Students must be passing ALL core subjects in order to participate in any of the competitions. These subjects include Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Sciences. Also included are Computer, Foreign Language, and other electives which would include the music or band class.

Courses such as Sign Language, Handwriting, will not apply unless taken as electives under any above category for a grade.

There are several contests in which our students will be participating.

Band members, grades 7 and 8, may participate in the Middle School All-Region Honor Band competition.

Students that make All-Region Honor Band then participate in the All-Region Honor Band Clinic and Concert.

Choir members, grades 7 and 8 may participate in the Middle School All-Region Honor Choir competition. Students that make All-Region Honor Choir will then participate in the All-Region Honor Choir Clinic and Concert.

High School students, grades 9-12, may participate in the All-State Honor Band or Choir competitions. These Clinics and Concerts are held every year in January.

If your son or daughter wishes to try out, these materials should be available at the music stores listed in this website, or I can order them. All Honor groups participate through Texas Private School Music Educator’s Association (TPSMEA). You may access band and choir tryout music and dates at

During the Spring Semester of 2010, Band and Choir members may participate in Solo and Ensemble Contest.

Also in the Spring of 2010, Band members may participate at the Sandy Lake Band Contest, Choir members and Elementary students may participate at the Sandy Lake Choir Contest. Participation of our groups may be dependent on the number of eligible students.
