contests

There are several contests in which our students will be participating.

Band members, grades 7 and up, may participate in the All-Region Band competition. Students that make All-Region Band then participate in the All-Region Concert. The All-Region Tryout materials for the High School and Junior HighSchool competitions will be made available in September of 2007. If your son or daughter wishes to try out, these materials should be available at the music stores listed in this website, or I can order them.

During the Spring Semester of 2008, all Band Members may participate in Solo and Ensemble Contest.

Also in the Spring of 2008, all Band members may participate at the Sandy Lake Band Contest. Elementary students may participate at the Sandy Lake Choir Contest. Participation of our groups may be dependent on the number of eligible students.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!! Students must be passing ALL core subjects in order to participate in any of the competitions. These subjects include Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Sciences. Also included are Computer, Foreign Language, and other electives which would include the music or band class.

Courses such as Sign Language, Handwriting, will not apply unless taken as electives under any above category for a grade.

NOTE: all regular school work must be up-to-date by the student in order to be eligible for any competition.
